Inclusive
Whether your child is starting at 6 weeks of age or 6 years, our teachers and students will welcome them with open arms. Part of our philosophy here at Wallburg Academy is to create an inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of each child in our care.
Not only are we inclusive with each child, but we are also welcoming to each and every one of our parents. We host events throughout the year honoring our beloved parents (ex. Muffins with Mom and Doughnuts for Dad), but we also hold an open door policy that invites them to come be a part of their child’s learning experience any day of the week.
Productive
Each month our teachers create their own themes based on the children’s interests. The teachers then produce lesson plans that involve hands-on learning activities that relate to their theme of the week. While the center hosts the same themes for each classroom, the teachers mold the material to meet the learning requirements of their age group.
On occasion, our Pre-K children get to use their walking shoes and go on a learning adventure. Zootastic Park is a great example of one of their field trips where they learned hands-on about a variety of different animals.

Healthy and Active
We provide breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks to each child in our care. Prior to the month beginning we have a printed menu for each day so that parents know what their child will be served on a given date. Each meal and snack is designed to meet the state guidelines for healthy eating. Our breakfasts include a fruit and a grain, our lunches include a vegetable, protein, bread, and fruit, lastly our snacks always host a fruit and a grain or protein. By including food from each food group, we encourage our children to try foods they may not always have access to, as well as, produce full tummies so that they can focus on learning playing throughout the rest of the day.
In addition to our healthy eating habits, we promote physical activity each day. As long as it is not raining, freezing, or too hot each class spends 45 minutes in the morning and 45 minutes in the afternoon on an age appropriate playground. While outside they are given the opportunity to run, jump, play, and use their imagination to create active games with their friends. Children learn best through play, whether that be inside or out.
